Chengal is produced from tropical hardwood trees that can be commonly found in South East Asia. Chengal are generally light yellow-brown in color with a distinct green tinge, when exposed to sunlight, it will darkens to dark purple-brown/red over time.
Chengal wood is naturally durable and very resistant to termites attack and fungal infestation. Most popular choices are decking/flooring among hardwood species. which means that it is the strongest and most durable wood in Malaysia (certified by Malaysian Timber Industry Board.
